Introducing Its New 6.2X DVD-ROM
Drive

Aimed at High-End PC Market to Compliment New High Speed Processors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 1, 1999--Digital Video Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:DVID -
news) announced today that it is introducing one of the fastest DVD-ROM drives currently available, the DVS
DSR-600H DVD-ROM Drive. Samples of the 6.2X DVD-ROM drive will be available to customers for evaluation
this month. Production of the new drive will begin in late February. The product launch represents the Company's
third DVD-ROM product introduction in eight months.

DVS' newest DVD-ROM Drive, the 6.2X, is an upgraded third generation DVD-ROM drive which operates at 6.2
times DVD standard read speed, and 32 times CD-ROM speed. The product is aimed at meeting the performance
requirements of the high-end PC market and the growing OEM demand for ever faster drives. The worldwide
DVD-ROM market has been estimated by International Data Corp. to reach more than 35 million units in calendar
1999 and more than 70 million units in 2000.

The 6.2X DVD-ROM drive is backward compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, and virtually all CD
formats including CD-ROM, CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW, Video CD, CD-I/FMV, Multisession Photo CD, or Photo
CD. The 6.2X DVD-ROM drive also supports Ultra DMA-33 mode, which enables the data transfer throughput to be
double the speed of EIDE mode.
