I am a newbie trader and I have a question. I appreciate any help...

I placed an online (Suretrade) limit order to buy HNV at a specific price. After a few minutes, I noticed the price dropping, so I 'edited' the order. This happened two more times before any notice of an execution. Then, before I knew what hit me, they executed each consecutive 'edit' as a new order. Now I owe a butt load of money. It seems that an 'edit' to a single order should be one transaction...they should either make the edit or not depending on whether the order has executed...and not view it as a new order. Is this logic sound?

Can I sue?
