OpenROUTE Joins With Unisys to Expand Customer Service
Offerings

PR Newswire - February 01, 1999 10:50

Alliance Fills Out OpenROUTE's Global Support Programs

WESTBORO, Mass., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenROUTE Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPEN), a leader in providing
secure Internet and Virtual Private Networking (VPN) solutions, today announced a support services alliance with
Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS). This strategic relationship allows OpenROUTE customers to choose Unisys for
on-site support of OpenROUTE products.

The alliance represents a significant advance in the service and support level provided to OpenROUTE customers. The
program is designed to augment OpenROUTE's existing programs by providing world-class on-site service according
to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs). It leverages Unisys proven strength in delivering world class service while
utilizing the OpenROUTE customer support center as a single point of contact.

Initially, the Unisys partnership provides OpenROUTE with the ability to offer OpenROUTE Rapid Response service
throughout North America. Unisys trained engineers and technicians are dispatched through a central administration
system and provide product repair and exchange, on-site, for OpenROUTE customers. The agreement allows
expansion to worldwide coverage in the future.

Using the Unisys Web-based Support Online system, OpenROUTE support personnel will be able to immediately
submit dispatch requests to Unisys field service personnel. This seamless electronic link enables Unisys to automatically
capture OpenROUTE's first-call diagnostics and transmit this information to the field engineering organization
responsible for servicing the end-user client location.

"With OpenROUTE's focus on providing mission critical, secure Internet services, our clients are demanding a broader
range of services and faster response times," said Bryan R. Holley, President and CEO of OpenROUTE. "The
coverage and quality of service that Unisys can provide was a key factor in developing this partnership. As our ISP
penetration continues to expand on a global basis, Unisys can greatly simplify our global support requirements."

"By leveraging the Unisys service delivery capabilities through the Support Online system, OpenROUTE can more
readily provide its customers with responsive on-site service," said Stephen Martin, vice president, Emerging Markets,
Unisys Global Customer Services. "In addition, the global nature of this system provides OpenROUTE the opportunity
to easily expand its on-site services around the world."

The OpenROUTE relationship is part of Unisys Strategic Service Partnership program. Unisys provides its Strategic
Service Partners the opportunity to offer a wide range of support services around the world -- without having to build
or buy their own expanded service capability. The program offers electronic access to a single worldwide service call
tracking, management and logistics information system as well as marketing support.

Unisys (NYSE: UIS) is more than 33,000 employees helping customers in 100 countries apply information technology
