All,

Is this one of the weakest features in biometrics?

"Biometrics identification requires special equipment to make measurements, and if a biometirc system is compromised, there's no failure recovery mechanism. In a certificate-based system, a new certificate can be issued to someone, but after an iris pattern or voice print is stolen, a person can no longer use it to securely identify himself."

Once a biometric has been stolen it becomes useless to its owner. If you have a template of your finger in computers all over the universe and someone steals your biometric, how do you let all of those computers know that your biometric should no longer be used? Doesn't this become a worse nightmare than stolen credit cards? Has the market figured this out (no failure recovery mechanism) and that is why biometric stocks are languishing?

Rick

ps - on the other hand - isn't this just the issue the F3 addresses?
