SO,

I think your comments about the Germans and Americans dominating their tourism (and the lack of Japanese) nails it right on the head. Countries that fail to make the necessary changes today will be left at the starting gate.

I think it is a little more complicated than simply opening their markets. This is not the appropriate forum for a detailed discussion. All I want to say is we are also at fault because of our strong colonialistic attitudes give these governments legitimate reasons to be fearful of foreign invasions.

Of pertinence here is that despite of what you or I may opine, the big US and European companies will make headway into these markets, some, such as S Korea, faster than others. I am still trying to figure out if there is a way to take advantage of this inevitable trend. Any ideas?
