The pattern I am seeing, from listening to traders with unhappy experiences at many online brokers, is that when it gets tough (fast market, steep drops..) their systems just cant handle it and so the customers get busy signals, kicked out of the system...I cant imagine a worse situation than having sent an order to one of these people and not knowing if it has been filled or not - as so often happens - what do you do? Try to get out of the position? - but what if you're not actuallly in it to begin with - you get the picture.

In these sorts of markets it seems a lot smarter to use software like CyBerTrader or Watleytrader that lets you see the status of orders in closer to real time than their standard online broker web-based counterparts.
