Tony - Re: " On the processor serial number issue, sounds like Intel is trying to sell it as a corporate network feature. "

Intel developed this security feature with a lot of input from customers and other Internet Hardware/Software participants. The basic value of Intel's security tools in the Pentium III are quite significant.

The vocal cries and yells of Single-Issue Privacy concerns are generated just to call attention to themselves and their causes.

These folks are vocalizing on their one issue - almost a belated Christmas Gift from Intel.

Over time, the merits of Intel's security features will stand on their own - if they are good, they will succeed and become adopted by the computing community at large.

And the corporate/business environment will provide the beachhead for this to be played out - not the media press so highly coveted by the vocal single issue self-serving "privacy" advocacy groups.
