ECI Telecom Announces Hi-MAC Multiservice Access Concentrator
WASHINGTON, Jan. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- ECI Telecom Ltd. (Nasdaq: ECILF - news) today at COMNET announced the Hi-MAC 100, the first member of its new family of Multiservice Access Concentrators. Multiservice Access Concentrators are key service delivery systems that consolidate hundreds of leased lines onto higher-speed public network circuits, converting traffic to ATM or IP.
Hi-MAC enables Network Service Providers (NSPs) to deliver hundreds of lines of dedicated IP, Frame Relay and Voice services on a single, flexible platform at the lowest cost of ownership for connectivity, equipment and operations. With Hi-MAC, NSPs not only provide vastly increased subscriber access but also maximize use of the installed edge switches and routers, as well as transport media.
Additionally, Hi-MAC actually makes the installed edge systems more efficient by eliminating the overhead of processing thousands of low-speed connections and supporting at least 600% more bandwidth per slot. Hi-MAC preserves the investment in installed edge systems, while actually improving and maximizing their utilization.
In the Central Office, the small size of the NEBS-certified Hi-MAC 100 (5''h x 12''d x 19''w) and its superior DS0 density allow maximum efficiency in space utilization. For large-scale installations, a single eight-foot Central Office rack can accommodate up to 30 systems supporting over 15,000 user connections.
With Hi-MAC's soft-provisioning capabilities, NSPs can effectively support the needs of customers with different service requirements and very quickly respond to changes in service demand. Incorporating a variety of physical interfaces capable of supporting speeds from individual DS0 to fractional and full T1 and channelized T3, the Hi-MAC 100 achieves the lowest industry announced equipment cost per DS0 connection of less than $60. |
