I don't think Placer got the can of worms. That was reserved for the minorities. Placer got 50% of a good mine, cheaply. (Well, it WAS a good mine. Now it's just a hole in the ground owned by sharks) And the proceeds went into Mr Kebble's bank account in Switzerland.

The Driefontein debacle shows that the days of concern for shareholders are past.

SAf has gone backwards a hundred years to the time when Johannesburg was a mining camp and it was open-season to rob whoever one could. Particularly the gullible. Like those who read stories on the Internet.
