Please...remember......

AOL is not fundamentally an ISP....when it started...you could not even really get to the Internet (except via gophers)....

AOL is fundamentally a "content provider and communications facilator (chat rooms are enormously popular) and email is the "killer app"...who receives subscription revenues (like magazines or cable tv)

and AOL gets advertising revenue....and action off Internet sales...(e commerce)... and partnership (combo ad and ecommerce) revenue
I have posted (ad nauseum) about aol's revenue streams...so read my posts..if you are mildly interested in my opinions about how AOL "makes money"..

I know...that now..people think of AOL as an ISP...and it does provide that capability...but it is far....from just being an ISP>..
