peter,
I used numbers reported from previous NRs. Regarding my call for the number of 10 carat stones projected to be recovered from the the 6000 tonne bulk, its simple math-the single 10 carat stone from the 200 tonne bulk represented about 4% of total carat weight recovered. As far as predicting the number of larger stones like those at 30 and 100 carats in size, I guessed at the diamond distribution curve and lognormal distribution, but my guess is highly constrained by the number of stones larger than 1 carat in size, total carat weight of stones larger than 1 carat in size, their average weight, and the three largest stones and their weights recovered from the two 100 tonne bulk samples. From this, I could see that we could expect three 30 carat stones and 1 or maybe two 100 carat stones. The odds I gave for even larger stones are a reflection of how many tonnes I think would have to be mined in order to expect recovering a single stone of that size. Also, the CF results, IMO tell me that the two 100 tonne samples seriously undersampled the orangeite and UNDERSTATED the grade in terms of carats per tonne. IMO, my "guesses" are very very conservative.
