That is only pure Palm Oil, which I have never seen except in Costa Rica and other tropical countries, which is high in mono. However, I do believe that it also contains signifigant amounts of saturated fat too.
It is my understanding that there is no natural oil which is purely mono...but the preponderance of mono versus poly or saturated in oils such as olive, avacado (?), and natural nut oils is thought to improve levels of good cholesterol.
BTW, I have familial hyperlipidemia. When I was 28 my total cholesterol was 600 (triglycerides over 1000) and I had a skin condition known as Xanthomas (little pimples of fat). 13 years later I'm still alive. My father is alive (it is a male sex-linked trait) (he is pushing 70, 1 quad bypass, no heart attacks).
So there are many factors in heart disease. I eat a lot of fish, chicken, beans and rice. Without drugs, I lowered my cholesterol from 600 to 160, but I was in a state of semi-starvation at the time. Now I'm fat again and on lopid, which has worked best for the other male members of my family who have this condition.
I don't know what my chol is now and I don't want to (I would guess 300). I just take lopid, eat beans, and consume large quantities of antioxidants and hope for the best.
