jimpit,

I can see the WH or others trying to influence the timing of the indictment story (to, say, maximize its political effect), but I don't see how you can possibly doubt that Starr's Office has at least considered the possibility of indicting Clinton, and I don't see why you would doubt that Van Natta actually found some people who can honestly be described as "associates" of Ken Starr to say so. To me, there just doesn't seem to be enough "there" there to suspect WH shenanigans.

Anyway, regarding your Drudge report on Sid Blumenthal, I really haven't taken any notice of Sid B. or followed his involvement in any of this. It never occurred to me to have an opinion about him one way or another. However, I will grant that your Drudge report has me at least a little bit "hooked" on the idea that he done did the bad things alleged. In order to be "reeled in" (and join in the chorus about that terrible Sid B. Vicious character) I only need for 2 small things to happen: (1) the story has to remain true (i.e. not be blown away tomorrow by the first go-getter journalist who bothers to ask for an explanation or to check the facts), and (2) Ken Starr's office has to exercise the self-restraint to not immediately go out and arrest Sid B.'s grandmother and her dog in an effort to put pressure on Sid. Those are my pre-conditions for getting worked up about it - I'll keep watching to see how it turns out.
