WavePhore's Newscast Today Now Available Through FEDLINK; Federal Agencies Gain Access To Business Intelligence Services
PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 1999--WavePhore, Inc. (Nasdaq:WAVO), the leading new media content integrator and architect of digital-delivery systems, today announced that its Newscast Today service is now available through FEDLINK.
The FEDLINK agreement allows all federal government agencies -- executive, legislative, judicial, military, civilian, and independent agencies -- to utilize the FEDLINK contract vehicle to subscribe to WavePhore's Newscast Today business intelligence service.
Using FEDLINK service contracts, federal libraries, information centers, and other offices can obtain WavePhore's Newscast services directly. In addition to the Newscast Today basic information package, there are 20 other high tech, international, and financial information providers included as part of the FEDLINK contract. In 1997, more than 800 government agency members of FEDLINK spent in excess of $70 million for information retrieval services.
Newscast's increasing popularity is due to several factors. The service is browser-based requiring no dedicated servers on-site. Newscast allows Intranet and Internet-based delivery of current news as well as in-depth archive searches. Newscast provides customization of the user interface and information profiles for organizations and individuals.
"During the past year, WavePhore has successfully sold its popular Newscast Today service to independent government agencies. Our goal is to further streamline the process," said WavePhore Chairman, President, and CEO David Deeds. "To that end, our new contract with FEDLINK facilitates the process, by making it faster and easier for all federal government agencies to subscribe to our full-featured information services."
