Jiangxi PTA, China, continues with Nokia for USD 130 million network expansion

(February 1, 1999) - Nokia and Jiangxi Post and Telecom Administration have signed an agreement valued at approximately USD 130 million for further expansion of the Jiangxi network in China.
The contract, between Beijing Nokia Hang Xing Telecommunications Systems Ltd and Beijing Nokia Mobile Telecommunications Ltd - two of Nokia's joint ventures in China - and Jiangxi PTA, means the total capacity in the network will rise almost five fold, making GSM services available to around 1.5 million subscribers in the eastern province.
Nokia will deliver GSM 900 equipment including its mobile switching centres home location registers, base station controllers and base stations. Nokia will also supply customer services including installation, network planning and optimization, technical support and upgrades to MII Phase 2 specification. Deliveries will begin immediately and the expansion should be operational in September 1999.

"Therefore we are very pleased to be continuing with Jiangxi PTA for this fourth expansion phase, extending high quality GSM services to a growing number of subscribers."
