To all LONGs, re holding share certificates to screw shorts..

Several posts on the Yahoo PRFM board this AM, regarding asking broker to place shares in the owners' name, rather than street. They said that this prevents the shares being borrowed for short sales. I have 10k shares, and am thinking that I'd be willing to put 5k in my own name, as I plan to hold at least some of them for the medium term. IF PRFM goes up significantly, profit from remaining 5k shares will be fine for me. I'd be willing to hold the other 5k through some spikes up if it meant that the shorts got a bit of a wedgy.

Any one here have any info in that regard, or advice? Thanks!
