Michael,

Thank you for sharing the messages you exchanged with SI.

I cannot understand their logic. I am obviously missing something.

The most popular http server out there (over 40% of all installed systems) is Apache ( apache.org .)

Apache is free and runs (only) under UNIX (with the potential exception of OS/2.)

Linux is free.

Both pieces of software run under a variety of hardware platforms, including Intel.

If running under UNIX is so expensive, why is Apache so dominant (including sites with thousands of workstations), and increasing in dominance? [Check the Netcraft survey ( netcraft.co.uk )as proof.]

Why can't they simply change the operating system and the http server using the same hardware they have today?

I apologize for barking up the wrong tree and preaching to the choir.

Best regards.
