CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 1999--
Premier enterprise calendaring and scheduling system to synchronize with Palm Computing organizers for both Macintosh and Windows platforms
At MacWorld Expo in San Francisco (Apple Business Solutions Pavilion, booth #3835), ON Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:ONTC) today announced that future versions of Meeting Maker(R) will deliver out-of-the-box synchronization with Palm Computing(R) connected organizers for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. This new capability will allow users to synchronize their corporate Meeting Maker accounts and Palm Computing connected organizers over a range of networks (LANs, WANs, and the Internet) via their laptop or desktop computers. By leveraging Palm Computing's Conduit Development Kit (CDK) to provide Macintosh and Windows synchronization without requiring third party software, Meeting Maker is reinforcing its position as the leading cross-platform calendaring and scheduling solution.
"Meeting Maker's ability to coordinate personnel, resource and group scheduling in cross-platform enterprise environments make it the ideal complement for Palm Computing connected organizers," said Douglas Wirnowski, product marketing manager for Palm Computing, Inc., a 3Com company. "Its use with the Palm Computing platform is perfectly in line with our goal of extending the power and value of Palm Computing connected organizers to our Macintosh and Windows customers."
"Using Meeting Maker on Palm devices expands the Palm datebook function from that of a personal organizer to that of a business application, linking mobile users to their office schedules," said Christine Malik, Meeting Maker product marketing manager for ON Technology. "By synchronizing with Palm Computing devices in both Macintosh and Windows environments, we are continuing Meeting Maker's commitment to providing reliable multi-platform support for Macintosh, Windows, UNIX and handheld devices."
"Apple's iMac and latest Macintosh systems have re-invigorated developer support for the Macintosh platform, with over 1300 new Mac software titles being introduced since iMac debuted in May 1998," said Clent Richardson, Apple's vice president of worldwide developer relations. "Meeting Maker and the PalmPilot are two tools used by lots of Mac customers and its great news that ON Technology and 3Com are working together to deliver the tight system integration Mac users demand. It's clear that forward-looking software companies have realized that developing cool new Macintosh titles is a great business decision."
