I agree that the probability of a takeover is remote; however, the idea got me thinking about a couple scenarios. Suppose Targretin proves to be as effective or more effective than Tamoxifen at treating breast cancer. If you're BMY (at least I think it's BMY) and you control rights to Tamoxifen and it's 1 of your largest cash generators, you're going to take action if possible to protect yourself. (BMY has aggressively protected Taxol production with special legislation and making deals with the likes of CYPH). The key for BMY would be that it can't wait too long to act. If the public finds out about the effectiveness of Targetin, the price of LGND would increase 8 to 10 fold (like ENMD). Consequently, they may have to gamble and place a bet early.

Anyway, as we both agree, a takeover is unlikely; but, the thought of one is very intriguing.
