another little step: Signal Technology Appoints Two New Board Members
DANVERS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 2, 1999--Signal Technology Corp. (AMEX:STZ) Tuesday announced that its board of directors has appointed two new members: retired Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney and former Gillette Chief Financial Officer Thomas Skelly.
The appointments, which increase the size of the company's board to seven members, are subject to approval by shareholders at the annual meeting on May 4, 1999.
McInerney is currently chief executive officer and president of Washington, D.C.-based Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a national, nonpartisan organization of business and professional leaders working to create a more efficient defense establishment.
Prior to joining BENS, McInerney was vice president of command and control for Loral Defense Systems-Egan. He joined Loral (then Unisys Electronic Systems Division) in 1994, following 35 years as a pilot, commander and strategic planner in the U.S. Air Force.
McInerney earned a bachelor of science degree from the U.S. Military Academy and a master's degree in international relations from George Washington University.
A recent retiree, Skelly enjoyed a distinguished career at the Gillette Co., which he joined in 1967 and where he served for more than 30 years. During his last 17 years at Gillette, Skelly was the company's senior vice president of finance and CFO.
Skelly began his career in the Boston office of KPMG Peat Marwick. A Certified Public Accountant, Skelly graduated from Northeastern University and received his master's in business administration from Babson College.
"Signal Technology is very pleased to welcome these two distinguished gentlemen to our board, both of whom have made significant contributions in the public and private sectors," said George Lombard, Signal Technology's chairman and CEO.
"General McInerney's expertise in the defense industry will be critical as we outline our strategy for increasing our presence in that core market. Tom Skelly's financial experience at Gillette will help guide us as we make important decisions in that arena. I believe their joining our board speaks very well for the future of Signal Technology." |
