bp,

"Camino Lite" would provide a significant performance boost over 100MHz SDRAM. I don't think moving from 600MHz to 800MHz Camino on a 533MHz PIII would add much. It might delay a few die-hard orders by well-informed buyers, but I think most customers buying the high-end systems will be excited about the big improvement, not worried about the tiny increment when the 800Mhz version ships. Don't forget, we all know that an 800Mhz version is coming, but most of the market doesn't. And DELL, CPQ, HWP, etc. aren't going to tell them about it. They'll just say they have this great new technology (I'm a marketeer -- this part I'm VERY confident about <g>).

Can anybody with some stronger technical knowledge tell me if I'm way off base here on the performance difference?
