I have followed this thread for a few weeks now, trying to decide whether it made sense to pay a lot of taxes on some of my other holdings in order to buy Apple stock. Even though the Apple price is low, I have read no persuasive arguments that the business (and the stock) will improve in the long term.

The short term debt is scary. The loss of marketing position in the schools is even more frightening. Add in a less than inspired management and the only argument I hear is that the machines are easier to use and to network, but even that advantage is less now than in past years, and is irrelevant for technoboobs like myself and most of the consumer marketplace.

The strengthening dollar is also going to hurt this company in the overseas marketplace where it has the greatest opportunities. Those earnings, when converted to US currency, will not inspire Wall Street.

I just think there are better investment oportunities, but I will still peek in on this board from time to time. It is composed of some very intelligent people, but I think they are doing a disservice to their financial futures if they continue to hold this stock. Sometimes you just have to take a loss in this business.

Regards,
LordDarley
