David, super post!!!! Am very appreciative of your insightful decoding of the ROK spin.

Would you offer insight on couple of questions and and venture an opinion on one dark thought I have regarding the TI chip announcement. (1) If this chip is 120 times faster than the current art, how does it provide the higher speed (eg., download a 10 minute file in 5 seconds) over the same 56 Kbps bandwidth link? (2) Is the speed-up from data compression? -- if so, is this new?

The dark thought: if this chip offers such large performance increment, why would anyone want to buy present 56 Kbps modems instead of waiting for the modems with the new TI chip? Following this logic, it would spell weak first half year sales of 56 k modems, since the TI chip will not be available 'til second half of 1997.

Thanks again for the concise playback and interpretation of the ROK conference call.

Regards,

Tulvio
