MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Network Technology (CNT®) (Nasdaq: CMNT - news) announced today a joint reference selling agreement with Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) for CNT's FileSpeed(TM) and UltraNet® Storage Gateway products. As part of the Compaq Enterprise Network Storage Architecture, these solutions will be available to customers on a worldwide basis. In addition, CNT and Compaq will cooperate to ensure integration between products.

''The Compaq Enterprise Network Storage Architecture outlines our vision for providing storage as a flexible, shared resource throughout an enterprise to ensure up-time, scalability and security. Legacy system data continues to play a key role within the enterprise,'' said Ellen Lary, Vice President of the Business-Critical Business Unit of the Storage Products Division at Compaq. ''CNT's connectivity solutions offer a high level of integration between IBM and open systems platforms, providing customers with important solutions as part of Compaq's ENSA.''

In selecting CNT's FileSpeed data movement software and UltraNet Storage Gateway hardware, Compaq customers have high-performance, reliable and scalable IBM connectivity solutions as part of ENSA. FileSpeed is designed to quickly execute unattended bulk file/data transfers between S/390 and open servers with extraordinary data integrity, either interactively or through batch operations. The UltraNet Storage Gateway addresses bulk data movement between mainframes and open systems, and enables other SAN applications such as disk mirroring over campus and wide area networks (WANs).

''The Compaq Enterprise Network Storage Architecture offers customers a clear roadmap for building robust SANs,'' said Mark Knittel, vice president of marketing and business development at Computer Network Technology. ''Compaq's selection of CNT continues to validate the importance of legacy integration and wide-area networking in today's SAN architectures and our market leadership in providing these technologies.''
