Can turn into strokes of luck fast <g> My first memory of the importance of brand name recognition.... Was about 10 - had some friends from our little league baseball team over to camp out. Makeshift tent in back yard. The bugs loved it. Got all over the inside. Falling on us and crawling on us and getting crushed every time we turned . But we all endured in stoic silence until a wise ass second baseman named Kenny ODonnell broke the silence with " Mama Get REAL KILL ......You too Dad" Ampex means excellence. Has that glow. Like the AM ....and the AMP ..and the APEX...and also the ape and the map and the pax ( and also have to mention the xrated streaming video sites on Reiters ) LOL. But really, yeah that name has great a grand history and a great value, and I am glad they are going to try to reestablish it. Ed's comments seem very astute to me.
