Joel,

I just thought the story resonated on many levels. Like, for instance, did Rodney King actually break the law? Is breaking the law bad? Were the police justified in detaining him? Was the police reaction somewhat overdone? Did the police conduct become a larger issue than RK's original legal infractions? Was the issue settled even after one trial (and it seems to be an implicit assumption among those who think Clinton should be tried that somehow one trial will get it done)? Did the much-reviled-by-conservatives ACLU not actually side with the policemen in opposing a second trial on the basis that it was a misuse of the judicial system to somehow try to get them in any manner possible? Is everything in life cut-and-dried, black and white, populated with villains, or are some things just complicated? Can't we all just get along? And, finally, aren't Canadians in some ways pretty cool? (Also, I simply admired from a technical standpoint how well the author had laid out a complex, interesting and controversial case.)

That's all, nothing in particular though.
John
