Peter, the fact is, you know more about the nitty gritty of this than I do. Some others on the thread have been able to explain why Open Text's product is better than what is offered by Documentum.
Open Text's management, for what it is worth, claims that their software is more intuitive, it's "totally cool because it works closer to the way people actually think". (Don't you love it when 41-year-olds use the phrase "totally cool"?)
If I had to know every last thing about the technology involved in things I invest in, I would be in big trouble. Actually I have lost more as I gain more technical knowledge, especially in the 'geology' game. There are a lot of factors involved in every investment decision, and this is primarily what I'm about here, investing, although I do enjoy learning about the way everything works, too. Companies are like animals, we're just 'company biologists' here trying to dissect 'em. Then a big monsoon comes along and makes you run for cover, and if you don't pay attention to the weather as well as your dissection, you'll get blown away, if you get my drift.
Anyway...I suggest you contact the company directly if you don't get a good answer from our resident experts.
Happy hunting,
