Vlad...I agree it is Vivus that had to file with the EU ..they did and it was approved Dec 1st 1998. The next step normally takes 30 day or so for each country to license a drug approved by the EU.

For whatever reason Leland Wilson was being very conservative regarding dates.

Maybe since everyone was getting a little crazy over the DEC 31st date to sign a partner to start asap after ALZA contract expired.

If the countries in Europe license earlier you still have to wait on Astra to Launch the marketing program in each country.

We'll see how it comes together in the next few months.

Some of the unknowns at this time may be related to the Astra/Zeneca
merger. Some may be related to the UK's NHS 6 week study that was started Jan 22nd.
