"Sounds like the optical advantage isn't much of one" Sounds to me as if the 'osterich' is sticking its head in the sand. MRVC's AccelRouter is an example of optics/asics coming 2gether, & they would seem to 'smoke' anything CSCO is selling. Optical switching, metro 'dynamic' DWDM , is 'commoditized'...that would be a all optical train you hear coming..., I guess they can continue to buy what they will need from MRVC. Maybe Listwin should pull his head out of 'that dark place' & shake some of the collective sand out of his ears & eyes. If investors can mollify themselves by proclaiming the competition such as Lucy is deriving most of its revenue from old telephony/circuit switched purchases, Cisco is also living on borrowed time by ignoring optics, & the speed at which optics & asics are changing the fiber networking arena.
