IBM links with Bell Atlantic probably main reason why 3COM fell sharply today.

3COM needs to partner with someone big if it is to retain its market share of the network market. Possible links with Pacific Bell or Bell South or MCI Worldcom would be helpful.

Many high tech. companies have a market cap. exceeding $50 billion. 3COM stock price by these standards is peanuts and could easily fetch $20 billion - $21 billion in current market conditions.

Also noticed that DELL is shipping its units with 3COM hardware including modems and network interface cards. This should bode well come earnings in the next quarter.
