Good post. For the record, here are some pertinent exchange rates for the forint/dollar.

12/30/95 $1 = 136.58 Forints
12/31/96 $1 = 161.50 Forints

So, the dollar has appreciated nearly 20% against the Hungarian currency over the past year.
