Get real. McGinn slams cisco all the time, its called 'business'.

In the old days (eons ago) there were hundreds of ompanies making telephony equipment. Digital circuit switching (DMS, 5ESS etc) resulted in a huge consolidation. However it did not consolidate to one vendor.

The current environment of Internet deployment is a watershed and another round of consolidation is occuring, but there will still be more than one vendor.

I am a cisco engineer, but I own lots of other stocks and have a lot of respect for Bell Labs and BNR (Nortel's equivalent).

The real question in the consolidation is who besides Cisco, Nortel and Lucent will survive. The amount and speed of change is overwhelming the foreign vendors.

Personally I think Ericson has the best shot at survival, and don't like many of the others (ok Nokia will get acquired - but it can't stand alone).

Maybe that would be a productive discussion :-)
