Good News,

NEON Relationship with IBM Continues to Build
Momentum; Q4 Over Q3 '98 Sales Increase Over 100%

PR Newswire - February 01, 1999 14:19

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq:
NEON) announced today its partnership with IBM (NYSE: IBM) continues to build momentum.
Sales results of MQIntegrator from the fourth quarter over the third quarter of 1998 increased over
100 percent. The MQIntegrator product recently became an IBM-branded product, MQSeries
Integrator, which will expand the distribution of the product worldwide this year, including sales
through IBM's distribution and reseller network.

Strong Sales Growth

IBM sold the Enterprise Application Integration product to more than 20 corporations in the fourth
quarter (see January 27, 1999 NEON Q4 Earnings release at
neonsoft.com.

"MQSeries Integrator is really taking off with customers worldwide and we anticipate strong
demand for this product as companies look for business integration solutions that quickly unleash
their applications and data for e-business," said Colin Osborne, worldwide business executive,
MQSeries, IBM Software.

Demand for MQSeries Integrator has been high, according to an article in InfoWorld's online
edition, Jan. 26, 1999. In the first six months, the product generated more business than MQSeries
did in its first two years. MQSeries is IBM's messaging and queuing system.

"The high demand for Enterprise Application Integration software demonstrates this technology is
reaching the mainstream," said Nick Gall, vice president and service director, open computing and
server strategy service for META Group. "Every company should have an EAI backbone to
integrate their legacy, client/server and Web environments, particularly in a booming era of
e-business."

New Product Name Gives Expansion For Worldwide Distribution

MQSeries Integrator, like other IBM software products, now has the full weight of the IBM name
behind it.

"IBM and its distribution partners can sell MQSeries Integrator worldwide just as easily as it sells
DB2 and MQSeries," said Rick Adam.

NEON and IBM's team of worldwide sales professionals will continue to jointly sell MQSeries
Integrator to corporations worldwide and the two companies' development organizations will work
together on product enhancements. MQSeries Integrator will also be sold through IBM's
distributors and will appear on the IBM price list.

The Enterprise Application Integration system integrates computing environments enterprisewide,
regardless of hardware, operating systems, software applications, databases or communication
protocols.

New IBM-NEON Training Program

IBM and NEON will also implement a new worldwide training program for MQSeries Integrator
for customers and business partners, starting in the first quarter of 1999. IBM will manage
enrollment in the program and schedules are available at
