FWIW,

Thought I would post some data on the population demographics on the European Union.

Below is a list of the 15 countries which make up the European Union. So far only England(February 1998) and Sweden(July 1998) have seen MUSE product launches by Astra. Viagra has been available in all these countries with most launches occurring last fall. I am listing them in order of decreasing population. Population is in thousands.

1)Germany 82,079
2)England 58,970
3)France 58,805
4)Italy 56,783
5)Spain 39,134
6)Netherlands 15,731
7)Greece 10,662
8)Belgium 10,175
9)Portugal 9,928
10)Sweden 8,887
11)Austria 8,134
12)Denmark 5,334
13)Finland 5,149
14)Ireland 3,619
15)Luxenbourg 425
-------------------------

Total EU population 373,815,000

England and Sweden represent only 18% of the EU population.

There are also many more countries in Europe that are not members of the EU, most of which once were part of the Eastern block countries. Switzerland is the only non-EU country where MUSE has been launched. The population of these other non-EU countries totals 454,000,000. Janssen, not Astra, has most of these countries in its territories.

I feel that the market is missing the untapped potential of MUSE sales as the many soon to be licensed and launched countries come on board to give Vivus a continued income stream for product sales.

PS Don't forget the 126 million Japanese and the 1.23 billion Chinese as part of the still virtually untouched Asian market.
