Diversinet Corp. Appoints New Member to Board of Directors
Senior Executive from TCI Added to Distinguished Board
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 21, 1999--Diversinet Corp.(Nasdaq Small Cap:DVNTF; CDN:DVNT) a leading provider of digital certificate management Tools and developer of public-key infrastructure (PKI) technology, today announced the appointment of Tony Werner to its Board of Directors.
Werner is the Executive VP -- Engineering/Technical Operations for TCI (NASDTCOMA). Werner will be replacing Dr. Taher Elgamal who is stepping down from the Board Of Directors to create a seat for Werner, but will continue to assist the company as an advisory member.
At TCI, Werner helped launch products including TCI digital cable, high-speed Internet access, and telephony services. He was recently named one of the ''Top 100 Most influential People In Cable,'' by CableFAX magazine. Werner is also involved with the OpenCable project at TCI, a project designed to bridge the gap between the Internet and Digital and Cable Television.
Also at TCI, Werner was instrumental in rolling out digital services and in helping to make data transmission and digital service complementary. He has authored articles on such topics as network availability, network powering, regional hub architecture, the effects of cascading digital systems, and HFC traffic engineering.
