True, a stock split does not affect the underlying business directly--except that the stock runs up with makes acquisition-minded companies like CSCO have a stronger stock currency. Small investors (or small-minded ones, perhaps?--and there are plenty out there) seem to think that a split is a fundamentally good sign. It's clear that somebody out there was disappointed that Chambers didn't cleave the century-level Cisco.

The several super-exuberant and quicky comments (CSCO's going to $130, 200, etc.) make me nervous.
