One last intersting point. SFA mentioned how the roll out once moving forward would be less costly to the MSO than the roll out of the advanced analog and analog boxes. The reason is that the cable guy doesn't need to come to your home to hook up the Explorer 2000 set top box. They can simply have a courier or delivery service send you the box and pick up the old box. All that has to be done is plug in the power cord and attach the cable line to the box. The network will automacically detect the box, assign it an IP address and than take about 3 minutes to download the system software (this download will be how they initiate the software formating for each interactive application). Once the download is complete, presto, a digital program guide and expanded channel capacity with interactive applications being offered one by one going forward this year.
