You would never know it from reading the US press, but the overwhelming majority of arabs support Iraq in its confrontation with the US. It is only the kings and monarchs -- who could not survive without Washington's support -- who back the US.

What has this to do with OS? Simple! The odds of a massive regional upheaval are growing every day.

arab world- report
 arab divisions revived
athens, feb. 3, irna --- two events dominated the arab scene recently
the meeting of arab foreign ministers in cairo and the appointment of
a new heir to the throne of jordan.
while the removal of prince hassan, former heir to the throne,
by king hussein and the appointment of prince abdallah in his place,
is not expected to bring any changes on the arab political landscape,
future developments in iraq could usher wide-ranging changes in the
area.
power struggles in arab monarchies normally take place behind
closed doors and in a restricted circle with no implications for the
subjects.
when the iraqi foreign minister mohammad saeed as-sahf stormed out
of the arab league foreign ministers' meeting in cairo on 24 jan. he
blew up inter-arab reconciliations which had seen slight progress
in recent months.
iraq's rejection of the final arab league communique which fell
short of baghdad's hopes for an outright condemnation of the
anglo-american aggression and a unilateral lifting of sanctions on
iraq deepened arab divisions and complicated the situation further.
the failure of the one-day arab foreign ministers consultative
meeting highlighted the rising polarisation in the arab world between
the regimes and the masses who consider the united states as the main
enemy of the arab ummah and want sanction on iraq to be lifted at
once.
in the aftermath of the failure of the cairo meeting, the u.s. has
been launching military strikes against iraq on daily basis, fueling
arab public wrath.
over one hundred intellectuals and politicians in egypt issued a
statement this week stressing that ''the main enemy which threatens
the arab ummah...is the american imperialism and the zionist enemy.''
