Hi Keith.

I am finally relenting in my pursuit for better trading service in Canada. I tried to place an order this morning with Action Direct (Royal Bank). I made the huge mistake of telling the trader that the stock was moving fast and "would he please hurry"!! I waited for about 10 seconds but heard nothing on the line, so I asked him what he was doing. His reply was "curt" and he stated that he had to;

-look over my investment objectives
-determine whether I had sufficient funds to cover the transaction
-make sure that there was no outstanding orders
-ensure that I had trading authority over the acct.

I responded with "have you entered the order yet"? His response was no not yet but that I was "trying to rush him" and he was "new there" and that rushing him was not going to help!!
At that point I had been on the phone for 2 minutes and still didn't have my phone order processed. He became so flustered he wanted to know if I wished to have another trader place the order. I said yes, I was put on hold and lost the "buy"!!

I will be transferring everything out of the Royal bank that I own, Visa, Lines of Credit, Savings, RRSP's and anything else I can think of. I am doing this as an act of rebellion to a system that is antiquated and out of date. My question for all on this thread is:

What Bank/Trading facility has been found to be generally the most acceptable in Canada and what is the average telephone/internet order time?

Any help will be appreciated!
