CEDARHURST, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1999--Compu-Dawn, Inc. (Nasdaq: CODI) today announced that it has entered into an agreement with StarNet, Inc. (www.STARNETUSA.NET) whereby StarNet will provide internet access services on a wholesale basis to e.TV Commerce, Inc., ("e.TV") a wholly owned subsidiary of Compu-DAWN. This service is being provided through 1000 points of presence ("POPS") locations throughout the USA. StarNet, Inc. currently owns and operates its national MegaPOP(TM) access network, which is the single largest V.90/56K network in the USA. StarNet has grown their network over 400% in 1998 and plans to continue expansion in 1999 to provide V.90 local internet access from 50% to over 80% of the US population. To meet the coverage requirements of the e.TV marketplace in the United States, StarNet has separately entered into an agreement with GTE Internetworking (NYSE:GTE). e.TV will be able to activate and manage internet access accounts, destined for either network, StarNet's or GTE's, via StarNet's MegaPOP(TM) real-time account management system. StarNet has provided a single interface to e.TV, allowing e.TV to activate, modify, or deactivate their internet access accounts, all in real-time, provisioned for either StarNet's or GTE's network. This real-time control mechanism, developed by StarNet through a simple web-based interface, allows an e.TV customer to log onto the internet through any StarNet or GTE access location. An e.TV customer can log onto either
network with literally no changes in their username, password, or modem settings. "This new relationship with StarNet is expected to provide the e.TV organization of independent representatives, thus its customers, with enhanced internet services. The web-based interface control mechanism developed by StarNet is expected to allow e.TV to administer its internet service accounts on a real-time basis and therefore provide additional profitability to the Company. The Company anticipates entering into additional strategic agreements over the next few months with other internet and telecommunications companies. That should enhance our business of providing products and services to our existing and future independent representatives," said Ted Turner IV, Chairman of the Board of the Company. Compu-DAWN, Inc. is in the business of designing, developing, licensing, installing and servicing computer application and communication software products and systems for law enforcement and other public safety agencies. With the recent acquisition of the operating assets of LocalNet Communications, Inc. (see press release dated January 11, 1999), Compu-DAWN's newly created wholly owned subsidiary e.TV Commerce, Inc., has entered into the internet, e-commerce and telecommunications business. Sales of these product and services are conducted primarily using a multi-level network marketing organization.
