BCE EMERGIS SELECTED FOR ELECTRONIC BILL PRESENTMENT, ONE OF THE LARGEST E-COMMERCE INITIATIVES IN NORTH AMERICA

[rocki, it's the big one!!!]

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--

BCE Emergis, working with Bell Canada and Microsoft Corporation,
announced today that it has been selected by e-route inc. to
enter into exclusive contract negotiations for a long-term
contract, for the provision to e-route of an electronic bill
presentment service. e-route is a company owned by Canada Trust,
CIBC, Desjardins, National Bank of Canada, Royal Bank of Canada
and TD Bank Financial Group.

"Bill Presentment enables consumers and businesses to receive and
review their bills electronically, offering advantages of cost
and speed. In the North American market, according to McKinsey &
Company, Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment (EBPP) could
save billers, customers and other constituents over $2 billion
annually by 2002", stated Brian Edwards, President and CEO of BCE
Emergis Inc. "Moreover, Killen & Associates lists EBPP as the
most important e-business application to date and projects that
EBPP market revenues will grow fifty-fold by 2005."

"By teaming with BCE Emergis, we will provide e-route inc. with
the first seamlessly integrated Internet bill presentment and
payment service," said Simon Witts, General Manager of Microsoft
Canada. "This new on-line technology benefits businesses and
consumers while enhancing the role of financial institutions. The
solution combines BCE Emergis' technology with bill presentment
software developed by MSFDC, the joint venture of Microsoft and
First Data Corp."

Negotiation of the contract begins immediately with the pilot
project expected thereafter and full production in 2000.

solutions that enable organizations to better compete in the

infrastructure, security services, and payments solutions through
