Chief and All:

I have said it before and I will say it again!

I have been using Scotia Discount Brokerage for over a year (by phone) and use a stopwatch to time almost every conversation and trade. I am pleased with the service and have only had one problem in the whole time (it was with a stop limit)

I do not use the electronic trading but prefer the personal touch. Calls average a total length of 1 to 2 minutes (with a usual 10-30 second ring in time before someone answers) I occaisionally get put on hold waiting for a ordertaker for 1 minute if the lines are busy - which can seem like an eternity. Orders appear on my SW screen in less than 10 sec on the TSE and around 30 sec for VSE and about 1-1.25 min for ASE.

Staff is for the most part cordial and efficient and many of them know me by name already. You have to watch for new ordertakers as they seem to have a problem getting used to their screens for the first few weeks. Otherwise I am pleased! Their Trading Floor Manager, Nancy Bowley is always helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have. I have told her in the past that I have touted SDB on SI and she appreciates it (but a 50% comm rate cut would be better lol). Comm's are min $25 and go on a sliding scale for orders >$2000.
