In 1982 an American told me how "lucky" the Germans
were to have had all their factories destroyed, so they
could rebuild and have more modern manufacturing facilities.

While Detroit had to struggle with outdated facilities.

(strange thought.....)

It does emphasize that Geography has greatly participated
in the influences in businesses and cultures.
