I caught the latter part of a news item on CBC television a couple of days ago concerning the four diesel submarines Canada purchased from Britain. I missed some of the detail, but the gist of the story was that these subs were going to be converted to Ballard Fuel Cell motivated power systems at a cost of several hundred million dollars. By doing this the subs could traverse the Arctic Ocean submerged. Ballard has been working with a German company for a few years in developing FC power systems for marine use, so they will have expertise in this field. Does anyone have any information on this?
