<< They aint disappearing bud, they're growing. >>
Hopefully, you aren't deliberately misunderstanding. Of course, I meant, the banshee screamers have disappeared from this thread until next quarterly report.
<< (factoring out investment income.) >>
Beating expectations is beating expectations. Get that through your head. Last year they lost money. This year they didn't. That is major.
<< Is this the kind of company that deserves a 45 PE? >>
It doesn't have a 45 PE. It has a 37 backward looking PE, and a 30 forward looking PE. Get up to date.
<< Just understand that when you blame this on short sellers and daytraders, you are ignoring the obvious. >>
I think the stock manipulation of these people is what is obvious. Thankfully, as you noted, there are a huge number of short sellers out there with positions. That is very bullish, for a company with new products, a better sales organization, an entire profitable year following a very bad year, and some new directions on their branding ideas.
Say what you want, a company with profits is not going down for the count anytime soon, much as it might please you.
BTW, the price recovered today. But no doubt after the general public has bought in for another million shares or two, you guys will jump on it again and try to move it back to 5 1/8 for another quick 10% profit. May you fail someday, because I am still long.
