(NYSE:UIS - news) said it would close its computer storage systems plant in Winnipeg, Manitoba, by July 31, eliminating about 130 jobs.
Unisys will turn to outsourcing instead, and shift some of its product lines to its Rancho Bernardo, California, plant in the meantime, it said in a news release.
''This action reflects the company's strategic decision of the past year to concentrate on manufacturing resources on its traditional core competency of building high-end servers for mission-critical applications,'' it said.
Unisys, which is headquartered in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, has more than 33,000 employees worldwide and posted annual sales of $7.2 billion in 1998. |
