Coach, if you read my post carefully I wasn't saying that a stock split was scary... I was saying that Tiffany seemed to be under the impression that this would automatically increase the value of her holdings. This suggested to me that she didn't understand how stock splits worked and that was scary since she has invested a fair amount of money and should understand something this basic.

Whether or not a stock split at this time would be a good thing or not is debatable. Yes, it would probably help relieve some of the volatility. But, for a BB stock to split is generally not a good thing. I would prefer to wait until this is a fully reporting company and all the financials are available.

Again, I'm not saying splits are bad. They can be very useful and have certainly helped stocks like Yahoo. But, they are not always good, either.

FWIW, BRKa has never had a split. It is up over 50% in the past year, has a market cap of $90B and sells for $76,000/share...
