there's a subtle zone between (about) 1020 mb
and 1024 mb in which most of this software (including
NT Disk Manager) gets confused.

The secondary drive came from Jon with w98 in a 1043mb partition with, I believe,32k clusters. That according to Jon, My Computer Properties and PM Operations Info. Why PM main window was saying that the disk was one big partition if I really had a 1043mb partition which is beyond your 1020-1024 window?

Anyway, I've moved on. I now have that partition at 502mb with 8k clusters. Thers only 100mb free, not enough for wnt so I'm about to make a first logical partition to move two DI images into from the 502 thus freeing up enough room for nt.

Sing out if you think differently. I did intend to have a separate partition for DI images anyway, so doing it now seems ok to me
