Echelon Signs Hyundai Electronics as Network Integrator

Echelon and Hyundai to Deliver Open, Interoperable Control Systems

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 3, 1999--Echelon Corporation, a leading provider of control network solutions worldwide, announced today that Hyundai Electronics Industries Co. Ltd. (HEI) has joined Echelon's Authorized Network Integrator Channel Program.

An affiliate of Hyundai Business Group, Korea's largest corporate conglomerate, HEI will resell Echelon's LonPoint® System solution for use in open, interoperable apartment and commercial building automation systems. HEI's action is part of a broader commitment to using Echelon's control networks for a wide range of applications including elevator controls, sub-metering, ship and rail car construction, as well as other transportation and industrial applications.

Founded in 1997, Echelon's Network Integrator Channel Program trains qualified integrators on the design, installation and maintenance of open, interoperable control networks utilizing Echelon's LonPoint System. The LonPoint System, a suite of hardware devices and software tools, provides an open infrastructure that enables the creation of multivendor, interoperable control networks.
