A look at the literature shows Avidia outclasses the DSLTNT from Ascend in some very critical areas. Ascend has a very poor architecture next to Avidia. Avidia has a 2.4 Gbps cell bus, I believe TNT "maxes" out at 155 Mbps on the backplane. Avidia can place 648 DMT ports in a 7 foot rack, DSLTNT looks to be 270. Avidia has per VC QoS including CBR, rt VBR, nrt VBR, UBR and GFR, DSLTNT does not. Avidia has SVC support, DSLTNT does not. Avidia looks like it has over double the number of SDSL lines than the DSLTNT.

All in all, it seems that the DSLTNT is based on an older, therefore less robust architecture that the brand new Avidia system.
